#Our Choice

We are all fond of catching up with the recent trends and are always in a fear of missing out so when Homi Adjania decided to make a short clip on Women Empowerment called the #MYCHOICE it was bound to go viral. Of course , we all have our personalised views of what should or should not have been featured in the small clip. But , one thing is certain that we are taking #MyChoice way too seriously. You wonder why I say that but it's high time we ponder on this . I happen to be a citizen of Delhi and I absolutely love it and my heart pains every time some one says that Delhi is not a safe place , on hearing this I feel so helpless as I can't even deny the allegations they put on my amazing city. We elect a new Chief Minister and we think that now that we have voted we have done our job.Now , its time for the ones in power to take action, No?!? That's how our thought processes. Why do we forget that we the common people can have all the power there is if we stand united , if we stand for each other if we stand with each other. And what is with us expressing our anger in such a heinous way. Are we forgetting that we are human and not animals , even animals don't attack unnecessarily . It isn't our choice to beat someone to death in front of his children merely for scratching our car. Whereas ,it definitely is our choice as onlookers to do something about the incident and not just enjoy one man's thrashing with popcorn in our hands . Wake up ! It isn't a movie scene , Help the poor man/woman. Do something , don't just stand there and trust me if you take one step forward , you'd inspire many a people to do the same. Don't be afraid and say things like " faltu ka panga ho jaayega". You never know when the spotlight might be on you and then you'd lose the right to curse the onlookers or call them for help. It is high time we start being a civil citizen , a citizen who takes action and not just witnesses it. PLEASE!!  it's really a desperate call for help.
As for the ones in authority we have been waiting for far too long for you to do your job well. You are a guardian of this wonderful city. You ought to protect it , please let Delhi be the capital of the country not the crime capital. We promise to be responsible citizens but we need someone to look upto . Be that guiding light for us , be the beacon of hope for us , Reach out when we need you, because we really need your support. It's time you ignite the fear in the minds of the people who think of doing anything stupid and not the other way round.
We want to get out of our house with certainty not with fear inculcated in us.we want it to be #ourchoice to feel protected.
As for the people with all the pent up anger who express it by killing someone , by raping someone , by abducting someone or by hurting someone.Seek Help! And know for a fact that even a monster is better than you! And , God Bless you with a heart and some brains.
So my fellow netizens , get over the two and a half minute #mychoice clip and start talking about this grave issue . Let's promise each other to be a much more responsible citizen and most importantly lets promise to be human at least.

Look up...Look Around

I have always been in awe of Deepika Padukone. She is someone whom every girl wants to emulate and every guy wants to be with.Isn't it true?!? But , Recently when I read an article of hers claiming that she had been suffering from depression I was shell shocked. I mean " How can she be depressed?!?" She has everything. Truth be told, I was amazed that someone as popular as her could be in such a state. First of all my respect for her grew leaps and bounds as "Depression" is a topic no one dares to speak about so kudos to her for bringing this ghastly disease into limelight. This made me think that we all form assumptions about people and have no idea about their battles. Just by seeing a few pictures on Instagram / Facebook / Snap Chat we assume that such and such person is so happy and we end up comparing our lives with their virtual world. What we fail to understand is the virtual world is just a pretty layered cake. STOP COMPARING !!! And stop feeling bad about yourself. If you have a roof over your head , a few good friends , a nice and loving family and enough food on your plate , you are more blessed than you could ever imagine . Count your blessings!
Technology has solved many a problems and we just can't do without them . But , at the same time it has created a distance between people. Where at one point parties were all about meeting people eating good food and just letting yourself be . Today , they are all about taking pictures of the food and posting it on Instagram  , snapchatting the duck faces and people peeking into their phones all the time. We don't even listen to what the other person is saying , 8 out of 10 people are dug deep down into the screens of their phones . We are a bunch of lunatics who hang out not with people but with our mobile phones . Really?!? Have we gotten this sad in life . We have stopped living in the moment and have started dwelling in the likes and comments of our facebook pictures . Ask yourself a question , when was the last time you gave your phone a rest and actually heard what the other person was saying! " Putting your phone away and Paying attention to those talking to you?!? There is an App for that it's called " RESPECT" .
I happened to enter a room and there were five kids of the same age and I was appalled to see them , 2 of them were watching television , one of them was playing a game on the iPad the other one was reading a book and the fifth child was taking a cat nap . I was furious at seeing this sight , What has happened to us ?!? Has technology made us so pathetic ?!? I remember when I was a kid all I wanted to do was play and play. But , unfortunately the only physical activity the kids of Gen X and Y are into , is in their 2 hour session of PS3's , wee and etc . Parents I know you want the best for your kids but please introduce them to the parks , to the outdoor activities , let them get muddled in dirt . And Please , don't give them phones/ iPads at the age of six and seven. Don't let technology ruin their childhood. Let them Enjoy! Let them be.
And, as for you Look up, Look around be a master of the Technology not a slave of it. Be in the moment , live in that moment . Forget doing things for Facebook ,whatsapp or Instagram . Take the memories with you .Listen to people , talk to them , get to know them better not by stalking their profile but by knowing them in person . Take lots of pictures , frame them and put it on the walls of your rooms and not on the walls / timelines of your facebook profile. Use Technology , don't let it use you. And give your phones a much needed vacation! Look up... Look around but after reading this blog post :) .
